Letter to Fox Network/Broadcasting: Please save Dollhouse

I wrote them a quick e-mail, telling them how annoyed I am that Dollhouse is being put on hold for a month and an appeal for a third season.

If you haven't already, guys please tune into the show, tivo it, watch it on hulu and show some mad love for this series. Maybe even write your own letters, phone calls or e-mails.

Thanks

I just have to say that I was extremely upset and disappointed to learn that you will be withholding episodes of Joss's Dollhouse for an entire month. Surely, you have seen what an amazing program this series is. You have a really amazing opportunity to be part of something great, yet you seem to be consistently taking this for granted. Let's face it, the majority of your programing is just plain awful crap. Followed by remakes and re-packaging of the same crap. There is only one night a week I would ever dream of tuning into your network and that would be Friday nights for Dollhouse.

This series has so much potential, and its story is only just developing. You've seen the fan base Joss's series generate, the long lasting and loyal viewer-ship and fans his shows earn. The quality writing is something that is solely lacking from broadcasting today, and I would sincerely ask that you think about that when considering to re-new this series. It is worth it. Please re-new an amazing series and be one of the few networks to actually provide some quality broadcasting. I would hate to have my only reason for tuning into your station taken away. We all know these shows get better with time, please allow Dollhouse to get there and you will have thousands of thankful fans like me.

please carefully consider dollhouse's fate for the upcoming season. I will be anxiously awaiting novemeber's end so I can tune back in for my favourite program to return. And I hope it will continue to return again after that. Please, Please, Please give this amazing show a chance for a third season and keep your viewers happy.

Thank you for reading this and please remember that there are all kinds of fans who are hoping that you save this show.

-Amanda Dickie

The lies of No-kill shelters and what's wrong with temperment testing

Yet again, this is shelter who was going to kill my lovely boy party because of temperament testing. I decided to write them about Party in the hopes that they might change their mind about killing adoptable animals on the basis of temperament testing, which is set up for dogs to fail. According to the test Party was positive for rough play, food aggression and possession aggression. He has neither.

And what is almost worst is that dogs who actually have these issues can be rehabilitated and become perfectly loving dogs too.

Anyway here is the letter:

Hello,

This is Amanda Dickie, you redeemed a dog to me last November he was a young rotti named Party. I just wanted to let you know that he is the sweetest dog out there. And despite what your tests may have indicated, he does not have possession aggression or food aggression. He met my mother for the first time on the ride home and was eating chips out of her hand the whole way back.

When we arrived home we had him sitting and waiting for his food, once or twice he jumped the gun and started eating before he had permission and my 54 year old mother was able to pull him back off his food with no protest. After he got settled here everyone approaches him while eating and he is fine. My mother and I regularly take his food dish from him while he is eating and he is just fine with waiting for us to give it back.

He is learning to take treats gently from people and whenever he is to rough we always take them back and try again until he gets it right. He has never growled, snapped or bitten anyone since leaving your shelter. We also have four cats, who occasionally eat out of his bowl and he will sit back and wait for them to finish. He is patience and still waiting for the day they all accept him.

There is a constant flow of new and strange people in and out of our house and party is excited and happy to meet everyone of them. He no longer jumps on people when they come to the door, and is happy when strangers approach him even when he is tied on outside the home. He also loves small children and is extra gentle around them.

He regularly brings his toys over to people to play and even if he's gone off in a corner to play alone will give up any toy when asked. Everyone at one point or another has had to take toy pieces out of his mouth. Our older and smaller dog is able to take any toy he is playing with and she occasionally eats out of his dish and he waits until she leaves to resume eating. Party and Claire (our older dog) share a water dish and he is usually left waiting for her to finish before he drinks. However, at times when he is drinking she will push her way in and they will both drink together. They eat and get treats next to eat other, Party is always last but he waits patiently and never tries to take hers away.

The more comfortable cats have begun drinking out of the water bowl while Party is drinking or sniffing them. And even when the tense cats hiss or swat at him he remains calm. He doesn't even bark when people come into the house.

He hates having his nails cut and teeth brushed but he remains calm during the whole ordeal. Even when I accidentally quick him.

This dog is one of the kindest, gentlest and friendliest dogs I have ever met. We do things to him that would have my older lovely girl seeing red. Kids pull his tail, blow in his ears and pull on his cheeks nothing bothers him.

We just wanted to pass along this message in the hopes that you might reconsider using temperament testing as it is an unfair system that sets perfectly adoptable friendly loving dogs up for failure.

Thank you,
Sincerely Amanda

I just get so frustrated every time I think that they were going to kill him because he was "dangerous", "aggressive", etc. When he is the sweetest boy I have ever met. GRRR

This is relevant to this blog because I'm hoping this helps to change their minds, which is positive action.

Out on the farm town

Went to diner with the vegan house crew and Jodi/Grant. God they are great. Food was awesome and everything was pretty stellar, the best part had to be Jodi's Fortune "Better to have a hen tomorrow then an egg today" so not vegan. Or when asked what everyone was doing if McCain wins, grant exclaiming/pointing " I'm marrying YOU!!!".

Man, I am excited to hang out with them more.

When spring winds blow

The other day Katie and I went on an adventure to superstore. On the way out, we ran into some Amnesty kids and as usual stopped to chat. So the we and the boy were discussing current affairs, past actions and future courses. He kept mentioning how he was running into all these cool people and told us about someone he'd met from Ethiopia. Being Spring in Halifax the sea winds were blowing, I mean really blowing. So much so I was practically falling over. And then I did stumble, not far but I was nearly blown onto my damn face. Katie half caught me and chuckled, some mutual cursing at the wind occurred, said boy continued the discussion without missing a beat and sidestepped out of the relative wind shelter of the trees beside me. Affective executing the wind shield maneuver, with a coy smile and melting just a small piece of my fridge heart.

Seriously, Katie and I melted. There were internal awws and all. Now Blake curses me for not asking for a number, and thoughts of sweet boys in yellow vests make me smile.

In other awesome news, the cute guy in English class smiled at me in the chemistry basement a while ago. He also, had the long stare last Friday.. not sure if it was the dress or not. But man did that feel good (that boy even stares in a heart thumping way). Damn.

Katie and I are hanging out all the time, it rocks. I love this girl. The party at Jeff's was sweet and potluck take over is going well. I love local vegans. Julia, Katie, Mens, Blakes and I all have weekend full of plans. I've cooked for people all week, eaten with friends and Nicholas even asked me to teach him how to make a vegan mini pizza after he said they looked so good. He loved it. Buffy night happened as usual and all is really well.

Things that make the ticking worth it

  • My new place and having a kitchen.
  • New roommates who are sweet as pie (and old ones that were awesome too)9
  • French exchange students who see sunshine through rain and love Joanna's Vegan sauce.
  • Accidentally walking in on another french exchange guy sans pants (Not in the way that sounds, but in the joking about it later/smiles kinda way).
  • Happy french exchange student who acts like a small child on x-mas when you see him and allow him to use your camera.

photos taken while happy-go-frenchy plays with your camera

  • Nooch! and finally having some.

Finally opening old x-mas gifts (Kitchen Gizmos!)

  • And when everything FITS in the lunch box.

  • Being Outed as a vegan via cook book titles, and having it not matter.
  • Discussing AR, Veganism with a roommate who asks to borrow a documentary on the subject ^-^
  • Physics labs with the old group (minus one) and having Edgar tell me he was mad at me for not being in his bio lab. "So I was sitting there going all oh sweet, Amanda is going to be here awesome. I'll get to hang with her cause I haven't hung with her for a while, like since before break. And woah, wait no Amanda just a bench full of STRANGERS. I am so mad at you, changing your lab time. Shame"
  • Possibly having him to change to my lab.
  • Oh and seeing Khalid again who is hilarious as always
  • Edgar yelling "oh BAM what did I tell you, did you fail? no! Ha! Bam, I was right. :high five:.
  • And both gasping at my not-living on campus/shock until I told them I lived one street over and explained about sleeping naked and cupcakes at 4am. CLEARLY superior choices.
  • Oh, an obviously having a Kurt Cobain lunch box, and hearing people behind you comment on it.

Surprise surprise

School has me down again, I put off doing my chem until tonight where I sat down and went all out for the 3 hour time limit of stressfull hell, not even a 60. A 57.89%, so as predicted I ruined my night and now feel shitty. I hate this, why the hell do a care so much and worst why the hell am I so fucking stupid/bad at this? I know this material, so why can I never get these assignments right?

So now I feel sick, and on the verge of tears (This doesn't make sense, but I can't not feel it and it's stupid). More stress now to do better next time with added stress of only having 3 more tries to get it right.

i hate this, but I don't know what else to do

Dalhousie-cross post

Well, I went back. This time there were people and most things were unlocked, and this time there were noises. Lots of them. Cats mostly, and crying which I couldn't identify. I'm just so pissed off at myself, doors were open and I just wouldn't go in. I mean, heck the cage cleaning room was wide open, boxes of rats right there... I couldn't even bring myself to check if they were alive or not. I feel pretty pathetic for shaking so much the whole time. I really should have checked, I mean sure the doors said do not enter authorized personal only.. but they were so open, heck I probably could have reached them without actually stepping in the room.

I shook so bad, a lot of the photos didn't turn out. Most of them are pretty bad, I took dozens and dozens of the same thing, most of which didn't turn out. Anyways, here is what I did get if people are interested.

shucks x a million. the real thanks should go to the french. who'd be utterly horrified that i veganized this, actually. all of france, the entire country, would make a sour face if you told them about it.

Re: Joanna! And how she saved my lunch.

I think I lack the hitting that skills.
Although the kid is cute... and learning english.

I also dropped by the women's center, spoke with Liz and some girls. Good times to have as always, did some work, made some calls etc ect. Ate my lunch that I finally had time for.
I love that center. Seriously, if you ever feel down this is the place to go, everyone is so respectful warm and caring. Honestly, these ladies appreciated it if you fucking breathe!

Liz will go on for hours about how awesome everyone is and love you to death for doing simple things like cleaning up or answering the phone. Well you are the greatest person to have ever lived, ever.

We talked about lingerie, boycotts, she loved the make up/outfit and asked if i'd lost weight, we discussed vegan outreach and the potluck people, plus the bridges to be made and loads more.

I also left out all the awesome that was new years and chilling with Missy, Impulse, dancing, we were on the speaker boxes for a while, Chad said I was adorable and awesome, more grinding. Seen alex, and got two new years kisses... er sorta... Well Alex kissed me, cause she always does and I was speaking with Brian as the clock struck 12 (cali time) which wasn't a real kiss but much happiness none-the-less. We are also apprently hardcore for making fries from scratch at 4:30 am from potatoes.

Good news take 2!

Yay! I just got an e-mail from my mother telling me that our cat Fireball turned up at the old house crying but ok. He's home and demanding lots of attention, he was missing for a full 5 weeks a lot longer than Brother. But just like him he came back as if nothing had ever happened.

I wonder what's going on with our cats?
Either way I was overjoyed to hear that he is at home safe and sound.

Steve just was late loggin back on because we went back to go recycle my carboard all the way in the cafe.
<3

He also just yelled after me "HA! I told you that you'd have to use the bathroom!"
I told him about the 4 bottles of water and 3 coffees, he thought I was insane for not having to go yet.

He also just went for lunch and when I told him I wasn't going to be here when he get back he just pointed and said "oh you will be, you'll be here. Don't worry."

What can I say.. I guess I'm easily pleased/amused

Pat also was a sweetie and came to get me after work, so I was leaving after some cool times with Alex, and steve said oh your leaving, well.. GOOD! Hurry it up. I replied with I'll take my sweet time, thank you. He said, good means I can talk to longer.

Sunshine, lollypops, rainbows..

well ok, not really.
But it's been a good day, nailed an interview with the YAP guy.
Got to girl talk with Jess from work, haven't seen her in a while.
Steve just came in and stuck his toungue out at me, I guess that's a hello, and smiled. Apprently he plans to kill the environment with his pop can tabs.
Ok, so it was a lame joke and not very funny, but it's social contact which is cool.

Scrabble games have mulitplied, Todd and Kcam played their turns, great PPK games going on. Spoke To Chiatroll this morning, played more scrabble goodness.
Lots of ppk smiles, no time to state them all.

haha, steve just walked over saying hey and smiling until I waved him away, cause i'm on a call. Joyce is back so I did my meeting my cancel saves are awesome :D
And I'm going to andrew's place tonight, see the new thing and hang out, which is cool because I haven't seen him in a while.

Steve flipping on the customers, finding out I'm 19 and being surprised as shit. And when I told him to fuck off, I know i'm short, he said I was about Carla's hight.
Not to mention my pile of coffee and chocolate :3

Small reasons to smile.

I have full work shifts, 8 hours of paid time plus I got full time hours, with breaks and lunches. Random, accidental maybe, but awesome.

John invited himself to the gathering, went to get me water (with ice!) and left early as usual and patted my head as he walked by while I was on the phone.

I also had loads to do on my break, facebooking and all. Katelyn wants to go to sessions, I still have that coffee date with Todd, Andrew's new place to check out and possibly go to because I have later shift). Dos works here now, and came to see me a few days ago, now we may actually get to take lunches!<3

I also had a great mail day, book from pam, care pack from JCD and vegan outreach letters. Plus I have alot more mail things to look forward too :).

Also got a nice comment from tinctoris and lots of nice comments on my picture posts. hehe.

Sometimes Bad Bad day's have the nicest moments.

My mother ditched me at work, no way home.
I just had an awful call with an idiot who ordered from another company and yelled at me forever. He was mad when I told him we were two different companies and called me a liar, sorry dude we can't merge companies and become one just cause you'd like it. WE ARE TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES. Fork.
Anyway, someone in the other companies CS messed up and told dickwad to call here. Steve heard me talking about it went on about how it was the other agents messing up again, and then he got right on the phone and called their sup. <3
Justin offered to get off early to drive me home and and Kcam sent me an e-mail to try and go too.
Also lots of joking and kind words going on, don't remeber them all.
but i'm feeling better.
Thanks kids.
