Bird-free thanksgiving

B.A.D.-Thanksgiving in solo mode says:
How was your awesome sounding feast?
Stupid Andrew // Ive become bored with flesh and bone again says:
verry awsome
Stupid Andrew // Ive become bored with flesh and bone again says:
surprisingly it was good tofurkey

:) Despite the deadness of campus and being alone all the time. I stand by my decision to spend thanksgiving the way I want to without looking at a dead bird. Sure I missed out on the food, but that's this year only. Because next year I'm going to be in an apartment and I'll be making my own feast, heck maybe even have some friends by then to have over and if not, all the better. I'll have lots of food to hand out to the homeless.

Happy Thanksgiving every one!

Good news take 2!

Yay! I just got an e-mail from my mother telling me that our cat Fireball turned up at the old house crying but ok. He's home and demanding lots of attention, he was missing for a full 5 weeks a lot longer than Brother. But just like him he came back as if nothing had ever happened.

I wonder what's going on with our cats?
Either way I was overjoyed to hear that he is at home safe and sound.

Hi,

You speak a lot of wisdom B_A_D! I certainly know what you mean about the difference betwen written text and actually speaking to someone face to face.

Maybe I am too hard on myself I don't know, I just get lonely and miserable and just want someone to cuddle up to at night. The anonymity of the internet just allows me to open up and talk about everything I can't discuss in the 'real' world.

Hey, I'll send you a picture of me if you want. Just tell me your email addy!

Have a great day,

Jon.

Hi,

It's really interesting so far, I'm learning a lot. Very intense though, some extremely disturbed people as I'm sure you can imagine.

Some of the things I post are a bit tongue in cheek to be honest, I really don't hate myself that much. In fact I don't *hate* myself, just have no confidence with attracting the opposite sex.

I should really get to bed soon That's very funny!!!

haha,

I'm just off to bed, it's nearly 2am here. Btw, I'm doing a work placement in a prison, shadowing psychiatrists on the psychiatric wing and meeting inmates etc. It's nothing top secret, just experience for me as I want to become a Psychologist in prisons.

Hope I don't come across as being self-obsessed and miserable on the PPK like some seem to think.

Take Care,

Hiya,

I don't have the time or money to get over to the US any time soon. I do have family over there, in Connecticut and usually visit every three years or so. I went last year and got to meet up with a lady from another vegan forum I used to post on. It was a really good day.

Maybe one day we will meet up for a coffee though smile

Yeah, I love talking and listening too, good job since I want to be a Psychologist That's very funny!!! I wish I didn't have an obsession with being unattractive and have the problems with intimacy I have. I don't know if I mentioned it on my thread but it tooks me weeks to sleep with my ex girlfriend I was so uncomfortable. I really didn't enjoy sex and was so ashamed to still be a virgin at 25. She later said that I should 'thank her' for going out with me as I would have probably 'died a virgin'. She also said every other girl would have 'laughed at how crepe in bed I was'. It really hurt me sad She also said that her friends were laughing at her for going out with me.

Anyway, enough of my woes, nice to chat to you and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day. It really does help to be able to talk about these things, rather than keep them bottled up inside.

Hi,

B_A_D you are certainly on my wavelength and seem to understand where I am coming from. Pity you live on the other side of the world, as I'd love to meet up with you and go for a drink or something - I bet we would have lots to chat about.

I think for me sex is a continuum rather than being easily defined. Even being 'straight' or 'gay' may not always be as black and white or in polar opposition all the time..........but that is a slightly different area.

It's great that we can be so open on the PPK, I never get the chance to talk about these types of things and it does feel liberating.

Thanks for listening!

Jon.

I really don't know why I'm into it, but it can be mindblowing when someone 'pushes the right buttons'. It is a very personal thing for me and hard to explain. I definately see BDSM as a voya rather than a destination. I'm not really into pain, more the psychological aspect of it all. I have many, many areas of interest but love the idea of being in a relationship with a dominant woman who orders me around, makes me cook/clean the house etc. I could literally talk for hours about the subject, it really fascinates me, especially as I have a degree in Psychology and would like to be a Psychologist!! I'm doing a Masters in Forensic Psychology and we had a lecture on 'Sexual Deviation'. Our lecturer was putting 'spanking' and 'BDSM' into the same category as rape etc. This form of sexuality is so misunderstood, it's frustrating at times.

My ex gf said I was a 'weirdo' for being into this type of thing. She told me after we broke up that when I first metioned I was into it she thought 'OMG, weirdo alert'. People can often be quite shocked that people are into this type of lifestyle.

I'm really tired and am going to bed now, but thanks for chatting.

Hi,

Cool. I love PMs too! I went to your website btw, you write some great stuff :> This might be a little too personal, but what are you interested in BDSM wise? I know I have been into it for a long time and really enjoy the scene. It's great to be able to talk to likeminded people.

This Blog is going to become more and more important to me

I need to make an effort to update it more offten. I have so many great memorise to document here, but not the joy or will to write or remeber any of them.

but this place is free from negativity, and this is simply my reminder.

Steve just was late loggin back on because we went back to go recycle my carboard all the way in the cafe.
<3

He also just yelled after me "HA! I told you that you'd have to use the bathroom!"
I told him about the 4 bottles of water and 3 coffees, he thought I was insane for not having to go yet.

He also just went for lunch and when I told him I wasn't going to be here when he get back he just pointed and said "oh you will be, you'll be here. Don't worry."

What can I say.. I guess I'm easily pleased/amused

Pat also was a sweetie and came to get me after work, so I was leaving after some cool times with Alex, and steve said oh your leaving, well.. GOOD! Hurry it up. I replied with I'll take my sweet time, thank you. He said, good means I can talk to longer.
Also Anthony< 3

Sunshine, lollypops, rainbows..

well ok, not really.
But it's been a good day, nailed an interview with the YAP guy.
Got to girl talk with Jess from work, haven't seen her in a while.
Steve just came in and stuck his toungue out at me, I guess that's a hello, and smiled. Apprently he plans to kill the environment with his pop can tabs.
Ok, so it was a lame joke and not very funny, but it's social contact which is cool.

Scrabble games have mulitplied, Todd and Kcam played their turns, great PPK games going on. Spoke To Chiatroll this morning, played more scrabble goodness.
Lots of ppk smiles, no time to state them all.

haha, steve just walked over saying hey and smiling until I waved him away, cause i'm on a call. Joyce is back so I did my meeting my cancel saves are awesome :D
And I'm going to andrew's place tonight, see the new thing and hang out, which is cool because I haven't seen him in a while.

Steve flipping on the customers, finding out I'm 19 and being surprised as shit. And when I told him to fuck off, I know i'm short, he said I was about Carla's hight.
Not to mention my pile of coffee and chocolate :3

Small reasons to smile.

I have full work shifts, 8 hours of paid time plus I got full time hours, with breaks and lunches. Random, accidental maybe, but awesome.

John invited himself to the gathering, went to get me water (with ice!) and left early as usual and patted my head as he walked by while I was on the phone.

I also had loads to do on my break, facebooking and all. Katelyn wants to go to sessions, I still have that coffee date with Todd, Andrew's new place to check out and possibly go to because I have later shift). Dos works here now, and came to see me a few days ago, now we may actually get to take lunches!<3

I also had a great mail day, book from pam, care pack from JCD and vegan outreach letters. Plus I have alot more mail things to look forward too :).

Also got a nice comment from tinctoris and lots of nice comments on my picture posts. hehe.

Sometimes Bad Bad day's have the nicest moments.

My mother ditched me at work, no way home.
I just had an awful call with an idiot who ordered from another company and yelled at me forever. He was mad when I told him we were two different companies and called me a liar, sorry dude we can't merge companies and become one just cause you'd like it. WE ARE TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES. Fork.
Anyway, someone in the other companies CS messed up and told dickwad to call here. Steve heard me talking about it went on about how it was the other agents messing up again, and then he got right on the phone and called their sup. <3
Justin offered to get off early to drive me home and and Kcam sent me an e-mail to try and go too.
Also lots of joking and kind words going on, don't remeber them all.
but i'm feeling better.
Thanks kids.

Old friendships and old habits...

I've got to say, dispite how awful I feel I am still really greatful for the people around me.
In perticular (for this post anyways) Andrew, dispite not really being around much lately true friends are never fully gone.
I love how down I'm feeling and how he knows exactly where to lead me, down the road to redemption of other. He's moving in next week and asking me to help him grocery shop and cook etc. General taking care of someone else things, my perfect medicine.
So thanks andrew.

Also Prepboy and Kcam showed up again last night, watch 10 mins of edward sisor hands so that was cool. He said sweet dreams as he left, and kcam called me a geek for playing my game :P.

P.S. why won't this let me place a title for my post. :grumbles:

Another peice from work.
Came in today, feeling great.
I've come to determine good days come from good shoes, and I love these shoes.
Sheldon said Morning sexy when I cam in so that also helped to brighten my day...

And oh yeah... I brought Flaun<3

Added from a few days ago: When I was leaving work on monday as I was headed out the door Steve said goodbye and that he'd try to sit closer next time. Not sure why, but that also made me smile.

Also drove to pick up kcam and bring soup to gwyn. Spent some time with Ben, went to his place. Seeing his face when I pulled out Death note was pretty awesome. Also we watched Can't Hardly Wait, which ruled.

I forgot most of today's points.

But FoodPorn and The PPK allways serve to bring smiles.
As do discussions of BDSM.
Also a woman called in and asked to place a suggestion about replacing the milk with soymilk <3
It's been a slow day and tomorow is a holiday which means I get double time in a half. :SMILES:
:D:D:D:D:D
I'm not such a fan of this blog having a white background as when I type it has a black and well all the colours look better this way.
Also Gwyn called in to work today, which was fun and unexpected. She got me on the first try too, and is picking me up from work!! <3<3<3<3!
Course I don't wanna get fired but this one time was fun.
Also last night I got to Jason before his B-day and hung out with him and Jess which rocked. Superstore has never been so fun/cool. And Silent movie acting!
:dramatic eye bat:
I bought loads of stuff >.<>
Biker Mice From MArs for PS2!!!
And Castlevania the good one!! <3
I love getting to see them again, I also had loads of real person e-mails today (allways happy times)

So thanks 2 :

  • Adam O.
  • Mizzy G
  • Gwyn

Going to the movies tonight, first time in ages. And I really have to find a way to see adam (obviously thats what the e-mail was about) I need some way to vist him/hang out and not be akward or the other thing. Maybe i'll plan something for next week.

Also I noticed alot of stuff on this blog seems really lame/mundane/pathetic but I don't care. Getting and e-mail or a hello or whatever else isn't a big deal, but I started this blog to appreciate all the things within life and my day that make me smile or happy. And alot of those things are litte, try it yourself. You will probobly find small insignificant everyday things happen more often and make you happy, dispite how little they mean to others or how ordinary they are.

Working, she ain't so bad.

Happy things:
My boots <3.
Driving in my boots.
Working in these boots
and all the reactions these boots get.
I LOVE MY BOOTS.
And Andrew, because he bought them.

Also coming into work today John made my day with his "Wow, someone's all dressed up today. Makes me wish I was 18 again!"
"Sorry John I don't date younger guys"
"Why how old are you?"
"Turning 19"
"Makes me wish I were 20 again, five years younger."

Shawna is my hero of the day, because she checked the schedule and saw that I was coming in and had coffee brewing when I walked in. <3
So I B-line for the coffee and John cuts me off, saying oh wow, you came down here to give me a hug, awesome. :arms open:.
"No, I was going for the coffee"
"Oh..."
"But what the hell"

Boots=Good Mood=Good Day

Neglect no more!

Ok, even the bad days have highlights!!!
Today's Brightest points!
  • Todd Ross kicked me in the back with his dirty (and ugly) crocs twice! With Brian's encouragement. But then while we all kept talking he brushed off all the dirt. :3
  • Ben was talking to me again :3, in both french and psychology! It was just different.. like the tone and general manner which we used to talk, before and all. It was good.
  • Katelyn and Lauren in french, and getting a 25/25 on the round table. Kcam arriving late, and siting next to me was awesome too.
  • Gwyn randomly stoping by, seriously nothing makes me feel better.
  • Gwyn and i going to SESSIONS for mochas and flaun, ok nothing makes me feel better than that, especially on a bad day :3
  • We blasted techno the whole time <3
  • And she made awesome spagettie which we went to her house to collect and now i have real food for supper!! :)
  • I have a list of todd/katelyn quotes and happy things somewheres!
  • Oh and Prepboy randomly stoped by a few nights ago and just talked for 30 mins. Allways like old times and awesome, I kinda realized how i'd forgotten about how much i enjoyed those times.
  • Right now i'm talking to my name on Trillian and it's actualy making me feel better. His parental wisdom is not only not giving me a head or making me mad, but i feel good about it
:)

  • Oh right! and Christian had a double role today too! In the halls he said hi/made a joke about "jees amanda goign slow enough" well banging into me etc. But in one of those jokes you make to friends way, not the i'm a serious asshole way.
  • And he said he liked our animation, dispite how crapy it was.
  • Oh yeah, Todd gets another point for positive project comments and making fun of how demented the class was and mentioning our animation in perticular.
  • Brian gets another point because he said he wanted one of my grad photos.
  • .. I guess I owe Todd a point for this two because he's harrashed about them.
  • Edit again, Graeme gets a point because he had actual contact today. Walked by with a pop can while I was working and placed it on the back of my neck. Again, alot of the things today sound like bullying but when you know the people and your me it makes you smile. I basically shows that things are cool between us again (haha lame ass pun!... damn i am lame)

Activism and writing.
Actualy I think I'm going to post my letter/responce in my other blogs.
aw heck here it is here too.

Letter received
Thank you for your correspondence concerning Iceland’s policy on whaling.

I wish to assure you that Iceland has no intention of catching any of the endangered species of whales, killed on a large scale by other whaling nations in the past. Iceland’s resumption of sustainable whaling only involves abundant stocks and is linked to Iceland’s overall policy of sustainable utilisation of marine resources.

Several countries catch whales, most of them on a much bigger scale than Iceland. The biggest whaling countries among the members of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) are the United States, Russia, Norway, Japan and Greenland. The whaling operations practiced by all those countries, as well as Iceland, are sustainable and legal and in accordance with the rules of the IWC.

Iceland fully appreciates the need for careful conservation of marine resources. Our economy depends on those resources as marine products constitute around 60% of Iceland’s revenue from exported goods and almost 40% of all Icelandic exported goods and services. Disruption of the ecological balance in Icelandic waters due to overfishing or other reasons could have catastrophic consequences for the livelihood of Icelanders.

As you may know, Iceland was among the first countries in the world to extend its fishery limits to 200 nautical miles in the year 1975, in order to put an end to the uncontrolled fishing around Iceland by trawlers from other countries. Since then Iceland has taken great care in maintaining balanced and sustainable fishing in Icelandic waters by enforcing an effective management system for various fish species including cod, herring and capelin.

Iceland takes pride in its pioneering work in this field, which has been emulated by many countries in the world wishing to avoid unsustainable practices. The annual catch quotas for fishing and whaling are based on recommendations by scientists, who regularly monitor the status of the stocks, thus ensuring that the activity is sustainable.

For a number of years, Iceland has acknowledged the need for scientific research on whales to gain a better understanding of the interaction between the different whale stocks and other marine species and the role of whales in the marine ecosystem. Therefore, Iceland began implementing a research plan on minke whales in 2003. So far, 161 minke whales have been taken and we look forward to the completion of the research plan in 2007 when the sample size of 200 minke whales has been obtained. Whaling quotas will take into account the number of whales that are taken in the implementation of the research plan, ensuring that the total number remains well below sustainable levels.

There are many different whale species and stocks in the world's oceans. Some are in a poor state and in need of protection. However, many whale populations are far from being threatened or endangered. The total stock size of Central North-Atlantic minke whales, for example, is close to 70,000 animals. Of those, around 43,600 live in Icelandic coastal waters. Fin whales in the Central North Atlantic number around 25,800 animals. Both estimates have been agreed by consensus by the Scientific Committees of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) and the North-Atlantic Marine Mammal Commission (NAMMCO).

Iceland’s decision to resume sustainable whaling involves takes of 30 minke whales and nine fin whales, during the current fishing year which ends on 31 August 2007. This will bring the total catches of minke whales in Icelandic waters during this fishing year to 69, including the minke whales taken in completing the research plan. These takes equal less than 0.2% of the number of minke whales in Icelandic coastal waters, an even smaller fraction of the total stock, and less than 0.04% of fin whales in the Central North Atlantic. Both are considered to be close to pre-exploitation levels and estimated sustainable annual catch levels are 200 and 400 fin and minke whales respectively. As the catch limits now issued are much lower, the catches will not have a significant impact on whale stocks. A responsible management system will ensure that the catch quotas set will not be exceeded. The catches are clearly sustainable and therefore consistent with the principle of sustainable development.

Iceland’s resumption of sustainable whaling is legal under international law. At the time of the re-entry of Iceland into the IWC, Iceland made a reservation with respect to the so-called moratorium on commercial whaling. As a part of that reservation, Iceland committed itself not to authorise commercial whaling before 2006 and thereafter not to authorise such whaling while progress was being made in negotiating the IWC’s Revised Management Scheme (RMS), a management framework for commercial whaling.

At the IWC’s Annual Meeting in 2005, Iceland went on record expressing its regret that no progress was being made in the RMS discussions. At this year’s IWC Annual Meeting, Iceland’s judgement of the situation was reconfirmed as the IWC generally agreed that talks on an RMS had reached an impasse. As a result, Iceland’s reservation has taken effect. Therefore, Iceland is no longer bound by the so-called moratorium on commercial whaling. In this respect, Iceland is in the same position as other IWC members that are not bound by the moratorium.

Iceland was one of the first countries in the world to realize the importance of a conservation approach to whaling. As signs of overexploitation of whales emerged early in the last century, Iceland declared a ban on whaling for large whales around Iceland in 1915. Whaling was not resumed until 1948, except for limited catches 1935-1939. Strict rules and limitations were applied to whaling in Iceland from 1948 to 1985 when all commercial whaling was halted again following a decision by the IWC.

Iceland has been a leading advocate for international cooperation in ensuring sustainable use of living marine resources, including whales. This has been the position taken by Iceland within the IWC, based on the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling from 1946. The stated role of the IWC, according to its founding Convention, is to “provide for the proper conservation of whale stocks and thus make possible the orderly development of the whaling industry”.

I hope that this information will be useful to you in understanding Iceland’s position on sustainable whaling. You may rest assured, that the desire to ensure the conservation of the whale stocks around Iceland and elsewhere is fully shared by the Icelandic Government.

Sturla Sigurjónsson

I thank you for your reply.

However, where I come from life, if it lives in breathes, is more than a simple "resource".

He or she becomes a someone, and their deaths, if intentional, become murder.

And there is nothing sustainable about murder.

Your country has indeed made many great innovations to marine maintenance and you have certainly been making progress. However, if one wishes to attain sustainability and to preserve our waters and marine life. It becomes a question not of how many steps you've taken in the past or legalities, but how many miles you continue to walk and the lives you wish to save for future generations.

Please reconsider and take a stance against this bloody act.

Thank you once again for your time and reply

Sincerely,

So awesome she needs her own post

For all her amazing antics and crazy stories of real life hilarity and for hosting the one all time happiness even of my life: Vegan: The Gather.
<3<3BT This post is for you! <3<3
For this and many other equally awesome moments and stories
"" "pressthebutton, dad.dad, pressthebuttonpressthebuttonnow, hurryupandpressthebutton!" Dad gave us a "The hell?" look but complied. We explained the situation to him on the way up to our cabin and were exceedingly annoyed at how amused he was. ""

Because I really need it

Miku giving me a back rub in media studies
Mostly everything Todd does
[10:45] Adam: ok, i actually need to go, but i wanted to tell you... i read your last blog post and i don't want you to be angry with yourself. if it helps, you've opened up my mind to vegan foods, especially after those yummy ice cream bars and the various treats you've brought in, over the year. i'd be *far* more likely to eat vegan food, thanks to you. :)
Ben asking and then checking back up on what was up with me (even tho in the end he made it worst that still makes me beleive things are fine).
Kcam taking me to DQ, and circling back a few times to see mike
Geoff stoping by for convo and listening
Gwyn for chilling during third and giving me her full attention
Lauren for staying with me at lunch
My mom for helping with that doomed sewing project I fucked up
Zane (yeah thats right my brother) for lending me his new black shirt for when Dave can't fit into the costume I made tomorow.
Todd again for asking katelyn why I was having a bad day.. during class.. three feet away from me as if I couldn't hear :P
The guy who produced Veronica Mars. Seriously.

Daily bright points

I've gotta say classes with Todd are really helping me out.
Cul tech is going great, I have a vegan black forest cake recipe and my WHOLE group agree to make it instead of the animal laced version yay!
Todd was great too, I was in the yearbook room after my cul tech test and he came in to talk to kcam and I, mostly kcam about the slideshow. He was asking me how my veganising was going and said he had been searching on google last night to try and find some veganized Heavy whipping cream etc. Mostly he was looking for a way to procastinate on his work so he decided to do a few hours of searching for me. We also talked about his married crush Sarah Kramer, who's e-mail I offered to hand over. Apprently its a boyhood thing.. tattooed woman etc, you can oogle from a far and ask me for new pictures but no actual contact or stalking.

Had a good realization in French when talking to Nichole... I'm in a good mood. Seriously. Things can't go wrong, i mean they do.. but i just don't care. Graeme hasn't spoken to me, Ben hadn't either at that point and I was still riding high from my sucess with Master on the weekend. I guess he may need a new nickname as he holds no power over me and neither does anyone else ^-^.

Also something which will allways add a good note to any day. The Boob thread has been reactivated. And theres a new poster. Joy!
